Glossary
Facial analysis borrows from two vocabularies at once — clinical anatomy and online community slang. These are the terms that appear across MogTracker and its guides.
- Bigonial width
- The distance across the jaw at the gonial angles, where the mandible turns up toward the ear.
- Bizygomatic width
- The widest distance across the cheekbones. Used as the denominator for most width metrics.
- Canthus
- A corner of the eye. The medial canthus is the inner corner, the lateral canthus the outer one.
- Canthal tilt
- The angle from the inner to the outer eye corner relative to horizontal. Positive means the outer corner sits higher.
- Canthoplasty
- Surgery detaching and repositioning the lateral canthal tendon, altering canthal tilt by roughly 3–5°.
- Canthopexy
- A less invasive tightening of the lateral canthal tendon without detaching it, worth roughly 1–3°.
- Composite score
- The weighted average of the 14 scored metrics, after the harmony penalty. Reported 0–100.
- Facial fifths
- The vertical division of a face into five columns of about one eye-width each.
- Facial thirds
- The horizontal division of a face into three bands: hairline to brow, brow to nose base, nose base to chin.
- Gonial angle
- The angle where the jawline meets the vertical ramus of the mandible. A sharper angle reads as a more defined jaw.
- Harmony penalty
- A reduction applied to the composite when one metric sits far below the others, reflecting that a single conspicuous outlier disproportionately affects impression.
- HTN
- Community shorthand for "high tier normie" — the 50–64 band.
- Hunter eyes
- A deep-set, somewhat hooded eye with a positive canthal tilt and a narrow aperture. MogTracker scores it as a composite of those two measurements, and leaves it unweighted because both are already counted.
- Intercanthal distance
- The gap between the two inner eye corners.
- Landmark mesh
- The set of 478 points a face detection model places on a face, from which every measurement is derived.
- Looksmaxxing
- The practice of systematically trying to improve one’s appearance, ranging from grooming and body composition through to cosmetic surgery.
- Mogging
- Community slang for visibly outranking someone else in appearance. The origin of this app’s name.
- Palpebral fissure
- The visible opening between the upper and lower eyelids.
- Philtrum
- The grooved column between the base of the nose and the upper lip.
- PSL
- A community rating vocabulary, originating on appearance-focused forums, that classifies faces into named tiers.
- Ramus
- The vertical portion of the mandible running from the jaw angle up toward the ear.
